Dr Swamy appeals to Juvenile Court in rape-victim case

Janata Party President Dr Subramanian Swamy today appeared before the Juvenile Court in  Delhi  to seek intervention in the  Vasant Vihar mass-rape case .

Dr Swamy cited Supreme Court cases to first establish his locus-standi in this case .The objective was to seek court's intervention to lower the age of prosecution in the mass-rape case.

The court has fixed January 14 for the arguments, when the court will hear Dr Swamy's arguments "comprehensively".

Dr Swamy said that the current age limit for juvenile crime makes no sense and it should be lowered to 14 years. When a person can commit rape & murder ,how can he  be treated as 'juvenile', he asked.

Dr Swamy had earlier sought rapists be tried under terrorists act, as it is an act of terror on women. He also has expresses his views that the rapists should get the harshest possible punishment ,which includes chemical castration.

Dr Swamy will argue in the Juvenile court at 3 PM on january 14.
